General Questions

Thank you for choosing Aradia Fitness! With the popularity of pole dance and aerial fitness as it continues to grow more mainstream, we understand that many people have taken or tried pole dancing or aerial classes before. We certainly cannot wait to welcome you into the Aradia Fitness family as you continue your pole journey.

Our goal is to place you into an appropriate level where you will feel comfortable. We know class structures, teaching styles and technique names and organization vary from studio to studio.

If you have previous experience, please fill our Assessment form and we’ll get back to you as soon we can.

Students who are brand new to Pole Dancing start with Intro to Pole and those new to Aerial please start with Intro to Aerials. For more details visit the Get Started page.

We wear workout clothing – what you feel comfortable to move around in.

Pole fitness uses the friction from skin and metal to hold poses as you learn more advanced tricks. For Intro to Pole and Pole 1 classes, students can wear leggings or longer pants. As you progress to the higher levels, shorts will be necessary. Student’s have the option of getting sticky pants if they prefer more coverage, however there are some limitations with these types of pants. The studio can help you with information on them.

For aerial fitness, usually more coverage is better. Leggings, or pants long enough to cover the knee pits is recommended for silks and lyra. Students may find longer shirts with sleeves more comfortable on silks. Please ensure that you do not wear loose clothing to aerials classes as it can get wrapped or stuck in the apparatus while you in the air.

We generally dance and train in bare feet. After Pole 2, students are welcome to bring in shoes to try. Some classes are designed with heels as well.

On the day of class, please refrain from applying hand lotion, this makes hands slippery. At the time of class, please remove rings, bracelets and watches. All aerial classes require leggings on the apparatus.

Aradia Fitness Calgary is an adult fitness facility. We teach ages 18+. Our student has a diverse and wonderful group of people of all ages. We’ve had students start their pole and aerial journeys in their 60s.
A student who is 16/17 can sign up if a parent or guardian signs the waiver for them.

No worries! Many students feel nervous in their first class, but once they walk through our door and enter our studio they feel welcomed and encouraged! Most classes have 8 students in them, some speciality ones may have more.

Our instructors are encouraging, non-judgmental and want to make sure you have fun while getting your workout in and learning new things.

Absolutely!

The great thing about Aradia Fitness classes is that everyone in your intro class is new to this. Our warm-up, stretching, and off apparatus workout is designed to gently build the strength & flexibility you will need to advance on the pole. Our pole dance fitness classes are broken down into eight comprehensive levels. Everyone starts with the Intro to Pole class, then continues to Pole 1 and is allowed to progress at their own pace.

For aerial, you begin with the Intro to Aerials class and move on to Silks L1 and/or Lyra L1. We warm up on the floor and then move slowly to the lyra (hoop) or silks to continue our workout before learning foundations and moves.

Clients can compliment their levelled class with our unique line of Design Fit workouts. Our Design Fit classes appeal to people on all ends of the fitness spectrum offer gentle, yoga-inspired workouts for the beginning fitness student up to high-energy, cardio-blasting classes for the very active client!

In Intro to Pole, Pole 1 and Pole 2 you will dance barefoot. Students are welcome to bring heels once they become comfortable with skills. Some students will take lower level classes and practice moves that are now easy for them while wearing heels. Heels increase the workout (not to mention they make your legs looks great and they’re sexy!) but they are NOT required. If you do choose to wear shoes, please make sure they are pole dance shoes with an ankle strap or dance boots. We know you have tons of fabulous shoes in your closet, but unfortunately those are not acceptable shoes for the studio. If you have any questions as to what acceptable pole shoes are, just ask us – we are happy to help.

We highly recommend students start with heels that are 6 inches or lower in height before progressing to 7 and 8 inch heels.

No weight limit for the Intro to Pole or Level 1 Pole Class. The weight limit for classes beyond basic pole classes can range from 250-300 lbs, as set by the pole manufacturing company. It would be best to contact the studio to check. However, there is no weight limit for flexibility and floor work classes and specialty classes such as lap dance and POUND® (among other classes) also have no weight limit.

Absolutely! As a matter of fact, most of our students have no dance background. (And you might be surprised to find out how coordinated you are after a few classes!)

Of course you can!!!  The beauty of pole fitness is that it trains your upper body (as well as the rest of it) to build the strength necessary to progress and it all begins from the FIRST class you take!

Classes

The best way to sign up for a class, is to visit our Schedule page and click on the class that you would like to sign up for. Pre-payment is required to hold a spot in the class. All class registrations and class payments are accessible through the Schedule House Registration portal (you can also download the Schedule House App). This allows you to create a user account where you can manage your class schedule.

Most classes are 60 minutes, and aerial classes are 75 minutes. We offer several dates and times of each level every week, which allows you to create the frequency of attendance that best fits into your lifestyle.

For complete pricing information, please visit the Pricing tab under the “Classes” page

We think that’s a great idea! The more classes you take each week, the faster you will progress!  Check out our Class Packs and Memberships to decide what the best option is for you!

The short answer is no.

Please select classes that do not overlap in time. Yes, some Aerial and Pole classes start at the same times and end at different times. However, without a cool down or warm up in one or the other class, this could cause injury.  It is also disruptive to the class when people are jumping in or jumping out of classes at different times. There are plenty of options available so please view the schedule to select classes that you can complete in full.

Clients quickly discover that pole dancing is not quite as easy as it looks and takes some practice. Both pole dance and aerial fitness are forms of movement that are unlike any activity you have done before. After your first class, you will feel how sore your new pole / aerial muscles are.

At Aradia Fitness, safety is a top priority. While we appreciate the enthusiasm of clients who want to advance quickly to do “that cool trick” they may have seen on YouTube, we urge you to keep the age-old saying in mind – “You can’t run before you can walk!”

Depending on the time clients are prepared to invest in their pole fitness journey, we have found it takes people anywhere from 8-16 pole classes before they can safely & properly perform the techniques, tricks & spins of each level. For aerial it is between 12-24 classes. The last thing we want is for a client to injure themselves attempting a technique that their body is not yet ready for. Taking at least one class or more per week will help you develop skills and strength consistently. However, we do recommend students train more than once a week – even with a different type of class (add in some FlexAbility training or get your cardio up with Zumba).

Yes, we offer private and semi-private lessons. These are customized lessons, based on the clients’ interests and goals. To find out more about private lessons, please email us at calgary@aradiafitness.com.

Due to the inherent sensual nature of many of Aradia Fitness classes, all clients must be 18 years of age or older to attend classes at our studio. Clients that are 16 and 17 years of age can get a guardian’s consent to attend classes.

We are able to offer a very fitness based version of our pole classes for younger groups if requested, however this would need to be scheduled as a private lesson and parental waivers will be required.

Nope – no nudity! Some classes may teach striptease techniques, but you are covered at all times.

Yes. In fact, we want pole and aerial to be accessible to everyone! We are inclusive to everyone, and we find our students all feel comfortable around each other and become friends quickly.

We allow a 12 hour window for class cancellations. You can manage your class cancellations through your Schedule House Online user account.  Any cancellations made 12 hours or less prior to class start time, or any no show attendances, will count as a “late cancel”. In the event of a late cancel or no show, you will lose the class credit and for memberships and New Aradia Client Special you will be charged a Late Cancel/No Show fee of $10 +GST.  Thank you in advance for your consideration of other clients, as we want to ensure that spots are available for those that need them.

All sales are final. In the event of extenuating circumstances (such as illness, injury or other emergency), please email us at calgary@aradiafitness.com to discuss a possible class extension or missed class forgiveness. These are determined on a case-by-case basis and are not a guarantee.  Please review our Policies for additional info.
